After years of Samsung playing it safe, this generation could bring the first real battery upgrade in seven years, a redesigned camera module, and a controversial new look.

Samsung typically launches its flagship S series in early each year — the Galaxy S26 series arrived in February 2026. Most leaks point to the Galaxy S27 series launching in early 2027, likely around February, though Samsung hasn't confirmed anything.

A Four-Phone Lineup This Time

One of the bigger structural changes: Samsung is rumoured to expand from its usual three models to four. The expected lineup is the Galaxy S27, S27+, S27 Pro, and S27 Ultra, with the brand-new "Pro" model slotting between the Plus and the Ultra.

The idea is to give buyers Ultra-grade cameras and performance in a smaller body — for people who want flagship specs without the largest possible phone.

The Biggest News: A Bigger Battery at Last

This is the headline leak. Samsung has kept the Ultra locked at 5,000mAh for seven straight years. That looks set to finally change.

Multiple sources — including tipsters The Galox and TechDroider — claim the S27 Ultra will jump to a 5,700mAh silicon-carbon battery. Silicon-carbon technology packs more energy into the same physical space, so you get longer battery life without a thicker phone. Some earlier leaks suggested even higher figures above 6,000mAh, so the exact number isn't settled yet.

On charging, leaks suggest Samsung may raise wired speeds to 65W, with 15W wireless and reverse wireless charging retained.

Built-In Qi2 Magnets

CAD renders reportedly reveal magnets built directly into the chassis, meaning native Qi2 support. In plain terms: magnetic chargers, wallets, and car mounts would snap on without needing a special case — something Samsung fans have wanted for a while. This was rumoured for the S26 Ultra but never materialised.

A Redesigned — and Divisive — Camera Module

Samsung looks set to abandon the individual "floating" camera rings it has used since the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Leaked renders from tipsters like Ice Universe and Sonny Dickson show a raised camera island housing all the sensors in one unified module.

Some commentators expect this iPhone-style "plateau" design to be controversial among long-time Galaxy fans. The same leaks suggest this new look will be exclusive to the Pro and Ultra models, while the base S27 and S27+ keep a more traditional layout.

Cameras: One Upgrade, One Possible Downgrade

The camera situation is the most debated part of these leaks.

The likely setup: a 200MP main sensor with a larger sensor, faster autofocus, and better low-light performance, joined by a 50MP ultrawide and an upgraded 50MP 5x periscope telephoto.
