Tecno Pova 8 Pro 5G Launch Date Confirmed: 144Hz AMOLED, Dedicated Gaming Chip, and a 6,500mAh Battery
Tecno has confirmed the Pova 8 Pro 5G and shared its complete specifications in mid-August 2026, with details going official on August 15, 2026. It will sit at the top of the Pova 8 lineup as the most powerful model in the series.
Tecno is getting ready to shake up the budget gaming segment with its upcoming Pova 8 Pro 5G. The company has now confirmed the phone and revealed its full details, and on paper it looks like one of the most feature-packed gaming phones in its class — a fast 144Hz AMOLED screen, a dedicated gaming graphics chip, a huge 6,500mAh battery, and an eye-catching second display built into the camera module.

Launch Date
Tecno has confirmed the Pova 8 Pro 5G and shared its complete specifications in mid-August 2026, with details going official on August 15, 2026. It will sit at the top of the Pova 8 lineup as the most powerful model in the series.

A Second Screen on the Back
The biggest talking point is the design. Tecno calls it an "Interstellar Spaceship" look, with a triangular camera module on the rear that has a small Active Matrix display built inside it.

This secondary dot-matrix screen can be customized to show handy information such as the time and date, incoming notifications, and different visual effects and animations — a rare feature at this level that helps the Pova 8 Pro stand out.
The phone measures 162.48 x 77.27 x 7.39mm, weighs 189 grams, and will come in Arc White, Graphite Black, and Tundra Green.
Bright and Smooth Display
Up front is a 6.78-inch HyperLux AMOLED display with a sharp 1.5K resolution (2644 x 1208 pixels) and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate.

Brightness is a real highlight — the screen reaches up to 4,500 nits of peak brightness and 1,600 nits in high-brightness mode, so it stays easy to read even in bright sunlight. It also supports 1.07 billion colors, a fast 2,800Hz touch sampling rate, 2,592Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort, and wet- and oily-finger touch recognition, all protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Built for Gaming

This is where the Pova 8 Pro 5G really stands out. It's powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultimate 5G chipset, a 4nm processor with an octa-core CPU running up to 2.6GHz.

More importantly, Tecno has paired it with a dedicated P1 graphics chip built purely to boost gaming. Tecno says it enables up to 144 frames per second in supported titles, with RPG games reaching up to 90fps and supported FPS and MOBA games hitting the full 144fps. The company claims an AnTuTu score of over 1 million, and a large 5,000mm² vapor chamber keeps things cool during long sessions.
RAM, Storage, and Software
The phone will offer 8GB or 12GB of RAM, expandable up to a combined 24GB using extended (virtual) RAM, along with 256GB or 512GB of storage.
It runs HiOS 16 based on Android 16 and includes Tecno's Ella AI assistant. Tecno promises two major Android upgrades and three years of security updates.
Cameras

On the back sits a 50MP main camera using Sony's LYTIA 700C sensor with optical image stabilization (OIS), joined by an 8MP ultra-wide camera. For selfies and video calls, there's a 13MP front camera.
Big Battery With Smart Charging
Battery life should be excellent thanks to the large 6,500mAh battery with 45W wired charging.
Tecno has also added bypass charging — a gamer-friendly feature that routes power straight to the phone during supported games instead of constantly charging the battery, reducing heat. There's 10W reverse wired charging as well, and Tecno says the battery should retain at least 80% of its health even after 2,000 full charge cycles.
Audio and Extras
The phone also gets Dolby Atmos-tuned stereo speakers, 4D gaming vibration, and Hi-Res Audio over both wired and wireless connections. Connectivity covers 5G, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC, and there's an in-display fingerprint scanner plus an infrared (IR) remote. Impressively, it carries IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings for strong dust and water resistance.
Tecno is also planning a limited Tonino Lamborghini Edition in an exclusive black design (though Tecno notes it has no direct commercial relationship with the carmaker — the main difference is just the unique design).
