Google Pixel 11 Series Launching August 12 with Tensor G6, Pixel Glow and 120x Zoom

Google's Made by Google event is set for Wednesday, 12 August 2026 in New York, starting 6 PM Eastern — which for Pakistani viewers means 3:00 AM on Thursday, 13 August, streamed live on Google's YouTube channel.

Four phones are coming: the Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold, alongside the Pixel Watch 5. And thanks to a mega leak that surfaced days before the event, nearly every specification is already public.

The headline upgrades are real — a 2nm chip, a new modem, and 120x zoom. But buried in the spec sheets are cuts that most coverage is glossing over. Both sides of that story are below.

Tensor G6: the chip Google has needed for years

Every Pixel complaint for five generations — heat, throttling, battery drain, weak modem — traces back to Tensor's manufacturing. The Tensor G6 is Google's first chip built on TSMC's 2nm process, the same node Apple's A20 Pro is using next month. The Gate-All-Around transistor architecture on 2nm can cut the energy needed for the same workload by 15–30%.

The bigger fix might be the modem. FCC filings point to Google switching to a MediaTek M90 modem for the first time — with satellite connectivity and dual-active 5G tipped. Pixel's weak signal and battery-hungry connectivity have been its most consistent flaw, and this is the first structural attempt to fix it rather than patch it.

Every model also gets the new Titan M3 security co-processor and ships with Android 17, which Google released back in June.

Pixel Glow: the one genuinely new piece of hardware

The Pro models gain Pixel Glow (leaked earlier under the name HiLight) — a subtle light strip integrated into the camera bar that glows for notifications, incoming calls and assistant activity. Google first teased this design language on its Googlebook laptop earlier this year, and it has since appeared on the new Google Home Speaker.

It comes at a cost: the built-in temperature sensor on the Pro models is being removed to make room. Few will miss it, but it is a removal Google is unlikely to mention on stage.

Cameras: new sensors, longer zoom — and a big selfie downgrade

Google is swapping camera hardware this generation, which it rarely does. Leaked codenames point to a new 50MP main sensor ("chemosh") on the base Pixel 11 and the Fold, and new main and telephoto sensors ("bastet" and "barghest") on the Pro models.

The Pro pair gets a 50MP main, 48MP ultrawide and 48MP 5x periscope telephoto with 120x Pro Zoom, and Google is claiming optical-quality output at 0.5x, 1x, 2x, 5x and 10x.

Then the cut: the front camera on the Pro drops from the Pixel 10 Pro's 42MP to 13MP. Google will argue Tensor G6's processing closes the gap. Until reviewers test it, treat that as a claim, not a fact.

The downgrades Google won't put on a slide

The pattern has one cause: the global memory shortage driven by AI data centre demand — the same crisis pushing iPhone 18 prices up next month. Google's consolation is that base storage doubles from 128GB to 256GB, so part of the hike buys something real.

Colours

Four shades have leaked, headlined by Dune — a warm coral-copper pink with a champagne gold glossy frame, matching the gold frame Google teased in its official event invite. A new matte black has also appeared in leaked marketing images. Full colour lists per model land on the 12th.

What this means for Pakistani buyers

Google does not officially sell Pixel phones in Pakistan, so every unit here arrives through importers — which shapes both price and patience.

Based on the leaked US pricing, current import patterns and PTA duty on flagship devices, expect the base Pixel 11 to land in roughly the Rs. 320,000–360,000 range non-PTA once early stock arrives, with the Pro comfortably above Rs. 400,000 and PTA-approved units carrying the usual six-figure premium on top. These are import-market estimates, not listings — real figures settle only when units physically reach the market, typically two to four weeks after US retail begins on 20 August.

Two practical notes. First, early import stock is always priced at a premium; waiting even a month after arrival usually saves real money. Second, the MediaTek modem is worth watching for Pakistan specifically — band support and network behaviour on local carriers is exactly the kind of thing that differs on imported units, and no reviewer will have tested it on Jazz or Zong before stock lands here.
