Apple iPhone 18 Coming Soon

The iPhone 18 is Apple's standard model in the iPhone 18 generation. It is expected in spring 2027, not at the September 2026 event. Apple has split the lineup this year: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and the foldable iPhone launch on 9 September 2026, while the iPhone 18, iPhone 18e and iPhone Air 2 follow in spring 2027.

The main upgrades are the A20 chip built on TSMC's 2nm process, a 24MP front camera, and a higher-resolution ultra-wide lens. The display, design and main camera carry over from the iPhone 17.

Apple has not announced this device. All specifications below come from supply chain reports and analyst notes.

Price in Pakistan

• 12GB + 256GB — Rs. 430,000 (PTA-approved)
• 12GB + 512GB — Rs. 510,000 (PTA-approved)

Apple is expected to raise the US price by $50 to $100 over the iPhone 17 because of higher memory costs. Final Pakistan pricing will depend on the dollar rate at launch and on which importer you buy from.

Note on RAM: analysts disagree. Ming-Chi Kuo reports 9GB while Jeff Pu and others report 12GB. If Apple ships 9GB, the phone will not support the Apple Intelligence features in iOS 27 that require 12GB, including the customizable Siri voice and improved dictation.

Display

Apple is keeping the iPhone 17 panel. The size stays at 6.3 inches, the resolution stays at 1206 x 2622, and ProMotion still scales from 1Hz to 120Hz.

Peak brightness is expected to remain around 3,000 nits. Ceramic Shield 2 with anti-reflective coating covers the front.

The Dynamic Island may shrink slightly, as Apple is reported to be moving the Face ID flood illuminator under the display. This is firmly reported for the Pro models and unclear for the standard iPhone 18. Full under-display Face ID is not happening this generation.

Processor

The A20 is built on TSMC's 2nm process, down from 3nm on the A19. N2 is also TSMC's first node to use nanosheet gate-all-around transistors instead of FinFET.

Reports point to roughly 15% higher performance, with the efficiency improvement being the more useful gain in daily use. The chip is expected to use new packaging that increases memory bandwidth, which helps on-device AI processing.

No vapor chamber has been reported for the standard model. That remains a Pro feature.

Memory & Storage

12GB RAM is expected, though 9GB has also been reported. Storage starts at 256GB with a 512GB option. There is no card slot.

Camera

The rear setup stays at two cameras.

Main: 48MP with sensor-shift OIS and dual pixel PDAF, carried over from the iPhone 17. The variable aperture lens is a Pro-only feature and is not coming to this model.

Ultra-wide: Reported to move up to 48MP, which improves landscape detail and macro shots.

Video: 4K up to 60fps with Dolby Vision HDR and Spatial Video.

Front camera: 24MP, up from 18MP on the iPhone 17. This is the most noticeable camera change on the standard model.

Battery & Charging

No credible battery capacity leak exists for the iPhone 18. Larger cells have been reported for the Pro Max, not for the base model, so battery gains here will come from the A20's efficiency rather than added capacity.

Charging is expected to match the iPhone 17: USB-C Power Delivery reaching roughly 50% in 20 to 30 minutes, plus 25W MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging.

Software

The iPhone 18 ships with iOS 27. The main change is the rebuilt Siri, which Apple has confirmed runs on Google's Gemini models beneath Apple's own foundation model layer, with screen awareness and deeper app integration.

Connectivity

Apple's C2 modem is firmly reported for the Pro models and considered likely for the standard iPhone 18, replacing Qualcomm hardware. The N2 connectivity chip is expected, bringing Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.

Design

No redesign is expected. Aluminum frame, Ceramic Shield front and back, IP68 rating up to 6 meters for 30 minutes.

Dimensions, weight and colors have not been leaked. The Dark Cherry finish circulating online is an iPhone 18 Pro rumor and does not apply to this model.

Buying in Pakistan

Apple operates no store in Pakistan, physical or online. Official stock comes through Mercantile, Apple's authorized distributor, and its network of authorized resellers. Independent importers supply everything else.

Pakistan is not a first-wave launch country. The iPhone 17 was announced on 9 September 2025 and PTA-approved stock arrived around 19 September 2025 — a gap of about ten days. Expect similar timing.

PTA registration through DIRBS is mandatory. Without it, the phone loses cellular service. PTA verifies the IMEI; FBR calculates the tax, generated at registration using that day's dollar rate. There is no fixed published table.

CNIC registration applies to residents. Passport registration is 15% to 25% cheaper but requires FIA-verified recent travel. Check dirbs.pta.gov.pk for your exact amount before buying.

Non-PTA units cost less upfront but you still owe the tax to use a local SIM, and they carry no local warranty.

Verdict

Worth waiting for if you are on an iPhone 14 or older and do not need Pro cameras. The 2nm chip and the 24MP front camera are both meaningful upgrades at that distance.

Not worth it from an iPhone 17. The screen, design, main camera and storage tiers are all the same.

If you want the variable aperture camera, buy the iPhone 18 Pro instead. If you need a phone before spring 2027, the iPhone 17 becomes better value once the Pro models launch in September.
